New York Fashion Week is one of the most highly anticipated biannual events of the year, where thousands of people congregate in Manhattan for a week of back to back shows and events in the spring and fall. We’re throwing it back to this past February, when Remake had an opportunity to meet New York’s favorite street style stars in between shows to find out what sustainability means to them. Here’s what they had to say:

Chris Lavish, Influencer

“Doing street style allows me to be sustainable with my wardrobe because I can work with many brands and wear sponsored clothing without constantly buying much.”

Rene Harrison, Influencer

“You can find interesting fashion in so many unusual places. We actually got these dope bags on Ebay and I think they are repurposed ice packs. Way more original than a regular bag and since they are recycled they’re good for the environment too.”

Benji, Model

“My whole outfit is thrifted! I walk high fashion runways during NYFW but I wear slow fashion and thrifting is something I enjoy and do often!”

Kesha, Celebrity Stylist

“I think sustainability and ethical fashion are really important right now but something not that many people know about. I work with a lot of different brands as a wardrobe stylist and have noticed that recently, there are more ethical brands popping up but I think we have a long way to go.”

Carina, Designer

“I think knowing where your clothes are made is really important and something I pay attention to when I shop. I would definitely spend more on clothing that is made in the USA and I think all clothing should be made in the country it’s being sold in. One example is Pyer Moss which is all made in Italy and NYC.”
