Professor Carolyn Mair PhD is a Behavioural Psychologist working as a consultant in the fashion industry. She is a Chartered Fellow of the British Psychological Society and recipient of their 2017 Distinguished Contributions to Psychology Education Award.

From 2012-2017 she was a full Professor of Psychology for Fashion at the University of the Arts London, where she established the Psychology Department and created the world’s first master’s and bachelor’s degrees to apply Psychology in the context of Fashion.

Her book, The Psychology of Fashion, published in 2018 has sold almost 10,000 copies and is available in six languages. Since becoming a consultant in 2017, she has worked with many fashion, beauty and media companies, designing research projects and advising on human behaviour to support the fashion industry to become more ethical and sustainable.

Carolyn was the spokesperson for the charity, Oxfam GB, on their 2nd-hand September campaign in 2022 and 2023. She has a PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience, an MSc in Research Methods and a BSc (Hons) in Applied Psychology and Computing. Among her earlier careers, she worked in visual display and graphic design.
